Today is a special day, an international Earth Day and Greece (like many other countries) is still unable -or unwilling- to fulfill its Kyoto agreement obligations, as explained by another Greek blog here, while America refuses to comply with it. Canada is also not adhering to Kyoto, judging from the CBC news article (here) about last year’s Earth Day demonstrations.
The Letter of Chief Seattle of the Suwamish Tribe to President Franklin Pierce in 1854 (or 1885?) is well known: There is a complete version of the letter HERE and a slightly shorter version HERE (with important points emphasized), expressing beautifully the fundamental principles of a healthier relationship between humans and the Earth. A Greek Translation of the shortened letter has appeared in another Greek blog here.
