Gary D. started out playing as a DJ at the age of 16 in 1980. The first years it was all about Black Music and stuff like that. In 1988, the summer of love and first contacts with House and Acid Music definitely changed Gary`s Style he wanted to play in the clubs. Hamburg based Gary got more and more involved in the House and Techno scene and started playing in a well-known Club named Unit Club in which he played night after night until 1994. In spring 1994, after Unit had closed its doors, he moved to Tunnel Club, HH.
This was the breakthrough for Gary D. as it was for the Tunnel Club too. He started to play more and more nationwide with big success, not only at Tunnel but also at most of the biggest German and international events like Mayday, Love Parade, Energy and in many famous clubs all over Europe. The name Gary D. grew for a synonym for hard and pumping Trance and Techno. Since 1995 he also constantly played in switzerland in clubs like Alcatraz and Oxa, as well as at big events like Goliath.
As Gary always had played harder stuff, he discovered Hardstyle in the beginning of 2001 and adapted it more and more in his numerous DJ-Sets he played that time. In 2003 and 2004 he played a lot of gigs in Holland; some of the biggest to mention here were Qlimax, Defqon, Decibel, Mystery Land, In Qontrol, all in large venues with up to 25.000 people. He was named to be one of the founders of the german Hardstyle scene and is still constantly playing in the Netherlands.
In the beginning of 2005, Gary grabbed his chance to become the resident DJ in one of his all time favourite clubs, the Bridge in Meppen near the border to Holland, which was always called to be the only true Hardstyle / Hardcore club in Germany with a capacity of up to 3000 people. Throughout 2005 he played mostly every weekend in the Bridge, but also found time to serve ravers all over the planet with his unique blend of Hardstyle and Hardtrance.
Since Gary started playing Techno and Trance Music he also produced Tracks himself. After his first Single «Acid Syndrome – Ecstasy» was launched in 1988, he started working on the first Gary D. Single. It turned out to be an E.P. with five Tracks on it- the «Identity E.P.» and was released on Container Records, a Hamburg based label, for which he produced a number of other singles and E.P.`s until he broke up with the label in 1994. After splitting up with Container, Gary released a lot of stuff on Tunnel Records, before he signed to Bonzai Records which has always been one of his favourite labels. For Bonzai Gary produced famous Tracks like «Kinetic Pressure» and «Overload»; two Hard Trance anthems until present.
In late 1995, he met two guys from PIAS Recordings Germany who came up with the great idea to produce a Compilation together with him. Compilations were rare that time, so Gary grabbed the chance and signed to PIAS not only for the compilation but also as an artist. D.Trance was born and shortly grew a big success not only in Germany but also all over Europe. Up to present time 32 Compilations of D.Trance were released, all with constant success. In 2000 D.Trance got an Extension with D.Techno because of the demands of many people for more hard style Techno and Trance Music, what was a big success, too. Nowadays Gary D. has worked on a large number of remixes for Artists like ATB, BBE, Hardseqencer, Hitchhiker & Dumont in the past as well as for Lazard, Mind-X and others at present. From 1996 up to present, Gary released 4 artist albums: Bang, D.Signals, Strike! and his latest one Four. Besides of this, he released more than 150 records, whether under his own name or any other project names. In 2002 he was involved in the project «H.A.Z.A.R.D.» together with DJ Sam Punk, wich gained huge success in Holland and is still one of t h e hardstyle anthems ever produced. His latest production is Daywalker`s «Rhythmatic», which also will be the very first release on his own Label D-Traxx Recordings, and finally this is why you`re here on this site…
